America 250 Rock Scavenger Hunt

?? Calling All Creative Community Members!

Each month, the Heritage Museum of Layton hosts a rock-themed scavenger hunt, and for America 250, we want YOU to help make it extra special!

We're inviting the community to paint and donate themed rocks for our 2026 scavenger hunts. This is a fun way to get involved, show off your creativity, and celebrate the history, culture, and icons of the United States!

Suggested Themes:

National Parks & Monuments

Think Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon, Arches, Yosemite, Everglades, Mount Rushmore, and many more!

Native Plants & Historic Flora

Yucca, Joshua Tree, Oak, Maple, Bristlecone Pine, Pinyon Pine, Sego Lily, Redwood, and other meaningful plants found across the U.S.

?? American Entertainment & Media

Show off your fandom! Ideas include:

  • Wizard of Oz
  • Star Wars/Star Trek
  • Superheroes (Mavel or DC)
  • American sports (football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse)
  • Mickey Mouse, Disney, DreamWorks
  • Hollywood, Westerns, John Wayne
  • America authors, artists, and more!

?? Rock Guidelines:

  • Must be family friendly
  • Must be no larger than a fist
  • Be as creative as you'd like!

Turn in your painted rocks to the Heritage Museum by January 31st.
